ABOUT SHANNON HOLM
I have been exploring my love for photography since 2000. At the time, I was a student at Flagler College studying Communications with an emphasis on video production. Through a few college classes, a lot of experimentation and a relentless fascination with independent film, my interest in video broadcasting and mass media waned, only to be replaced with film grain and darkroom chemicals. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with top honors awarded for my work in video production in the spring of 2002.
My background in video production combined with my love for all that is photographic have driven me to stretch the boundaries of photography -- to blend time and movement with the instantaneous snap of a shutter. I am fascinated by the play between light and shadow. Film or digital; vintage TLRs to plastic toy cameras: I am endlessly searching to find new and innovative ways to express the hidden beauty often ignored in what is often written off as ordinary or mundane.
Today, I find myself in Austin, TX and my passion for photography is stronger than ever. My work ranges from highly conceptual to documentary style event capture.
